Problem Statement

Labor shortages and the manual process of picking up fallen fruits contribute to significant inefficiencies and waste. Farmers require a more effective method to address these challenges.

The client, in the agricultural sector, required a solution that can localize itself within a known orchard or field, navigate while avoiding obstacles, detect and collect fallen fruits, and transport them to designated collection points. This solution aims to reduce labor costs, minimize fruit waste, and enhance overall agricultural efficiency.

Our solution involves the deployment of autonomous fruit-harvesting robots that can navigate orchards and fields with precision, equipped with 6 ultrasonic sensors and an intelligent camera to identify fallen fruits. A hinged gate and internal ramp mechanism is used to collect the fruits and gather them inside properly. Once all fruits are collected, they are dropped off at the required location. 

How it Works

1. Align

​

The robot uses 6 ultrasonic sensors and an intelligent camera to navigate autonomously around the field in order to detect cherries. Once it detects them, the front of the robot aligns with the cherries.

2. Open

​

The robot then opens a hinged gate and an internal ramp via servo motors. The robot then proceeds towards the cherries.  

​

3. Sweep

​

The cherries are swept in by the hinged gate and guided by the internal ramp, straight towards the storage casket.

​

4. Store

​

The storage casket stores all the cherries until it is dropped off at the desired location. The casket can be opened from the bottom to remove all stored cherries.
